TREATMENT
FOR ANXIETY AND NERVOUS CONDITIONS USING HYPNOSIS AT THE GLOUCESTERSHIRE
HYPNOTHERAPY CLINIC IN CHELTENHAM, ALSO COVERING GLOUCESTER, TEWKESBURY, EVESHAM, STROUD AND BRISTOL
Hypnotherapy utilises hypnosis, psychology and relaxation in order
to resolve many emotional and psychological problems, including
generalised anxiety and nervous conditions.
Hypnosis
There is nothing magical or mystical about hypnosis. It has
been used for thousands of years, and is a state of mind that all
of us use every day, every time we wake up and every time we go
to sleep.
The best way to describe hypnosis is a state of relaxation at one
with heightened awareness and concentration induced by suggestion.
Basically, hypnosis is deep relaxation, your conscious mind is relaxed,
whilst your subconscious mind is more aware, allowing you to gain easier access
to emotions, experiences, thoughts and feelings.
There are many myths and misconceptions surrounding hypnosis but
the most important thing to remember is that you are in full control at all
times and are always aware, in fact more aware, of what is going on around
you. You are not asleep and you will remember everything that happens during every session.
There is no such thing as a hypnotised feeling and many people
have different experiences of it. Some may feel light and
floaty, others can feel heavy or tingly. Some clients have
said that they just feel very relaxed and calm. The one thing they all have in common, is that they
all say how relaxing and enjoyable each session is.
Hypnosis is a phenomenon that we all use every day without us realising
it, and it can be incredibly powerful in helping us overcome many
problems that we have in our everyday lives.
Gone are the days where hypnosis is only used to help people quit
smoking. It has been proven to be incredibly effective
for giving up smoking but now hypnosis is becoming more and more popular
as a means of treatment for many emotional and psychological problems,
which in turn can alleviate many physical problems too. There
are many symptoms and problems that can be helped with hypnotherapy and in particular, pure hypno-analysis.

Hypnosis is used in both of the different types of hypnotherapy
that is offered at the Gloucestershire Hypnotherapy Clinic.
Suggestion therapy
This is a quick, short term solution which uses hypnosis and relaxation techniques
and incorporates positive, carefully worded suggestions. This
process increases the clients confidence and well being and can
help treat a number of various minor problems such as exam nerves,
quit smoking, weight loss, interview nerves and confidence issues, to
name but a few. Most suggestion therapy sessions last for
about 45 minutes and normally only one or two sessions are needed.
Effective for:
- Stopping Smoking
- Weight Control/Healthy Eating
- Exam/Driving Test Nerves
- Interview/Performance Nerves
- Nail-Biting
- Confidence
- Relaxation
- Stress Management
Suggestion therapy is considered only a short term
solution and any in depth problems are best dealt with
by a course of Pure Hypno-Analysis.
Pure Hypno-Analysis
Pure hypno-analysis uses the natural therapeutic process to permanently remove internal anxiety and 'emotional baggage' that we carry around with us all of our life. These bottled up emotions, if not dealt with, can cause untold grief and symptoms both mentally and physically.
Many symptoms and anxieties are as a result of bottled up emotions,
normally from our childhood. Pure Hypno-Analysis, enables these
emotions to be released gently and effectively. Once the
emotion has been resolved, the problem or anxiety associated with
it disappears.
Pure Hypno-Analysis is a permanent solution to any psychological,
emotional or anxiety related issue. The course of therapy lasts between 8-12 sessions, held on a weekly basis for about an hour. Each week you will be gently relaxed and then asked to talk about experiences that spontaneously come into your mind (also called Free Association) that link and connect to the cause of the original emotional conflict, allowing the bottled up emotions to
be released. This isn't the same as counselling or psychotherapy, which can take years, you are
not just talking about what you or I think the problem is about,
pure hypno-analysis enables the subconscious mind to link together
experiences that have been locked away from your conscious mind and release any emotion trapped within them.
Going through Pure Hypno-analysis is very much a 'two-way street'. My job is to create a safe, non-judged, supportive atmosphere, so that you feel able to be completely open and honest about what goes through your mind during each session. This is a completely natural therapy, that has permanent results.

Hypnotherapy for children - the 'Blowaway'
Children are very responsive to hypnosis and the results can be
life changing. The Blowaway Technique is a process that we use specifically
for children and adolescents. It is able to bring forward emotions
and feelings that the child may be feeling without the child having
to talk about them openly. Instead they are encouraged to use their
imagination and visualisation, to think about certain emotions in order for them to
literally ‘blow’ them away. Then positive suggestions
are used for confidence and self-esteem in order for them to feel
better within themselves, knowing any negative feelings or emotions
they may have had, have been dealt with. This process is very effective
and can help treat many childhood problems such as bed wetting,
thumb sucking, shyness, aggressive behaviour, eating disorders,
hair pulling and confidence issues in only one session.
Every child (aged 7-17) is escorted by one or both parents or guardian
(normally the one person who the child ‘gets on with’
the most) and the session can be a very positive experience for
everyone involved.
