TREATING
CHILDREN WITH HYPNOSIS AT THE GLOUCESTERSHIRE HYPNOTHERAPY CLINIC
IN CHELTENHAM
Children too can have anxieties and stress that they need to deal
with but are not mature enough or intellectual enough to talk about
them and rationalise them like adults can. Therefore many
thoughts and emotions can get bottled up and will eventually surface
as symptoms or negative behaviour. Some of which can include:
Bedwetting
Thumb sucking
Hair pulling
Phobias
Eating Disorders
Emetophobia
Bullying
Aggressive behaviour
Nightmares and night terrors
Toileting issues
Low confidence and self esteem
Speech difficulties
Concentration problems
Anxiety and stress can make any problem worse. So by allowing
the child to release emotions that are bothering them, the problem
they are experiencing will inevitably become less traumatic for
them.
Children are very responsive to hypnosis and the process I use
here at the Gloucestershire Hypnotherapy Clinic, is called The Blowaway
Technique. It is developed for use specifically for children
and adolescents. It is able to bring forward emotions and
feelings that the child may be feeling without the child having
to talk about them openly. Instead they are encouraged to
use their imagination and visualisation whilst thinking and feeling
certain emotions in order for them to ‘blow’ it away.
Positive suggestions are then given for confidence and self-esteem
in order for them to feel better within themselves, knowing any
negative feelings or emotions they may have had, have been dealt
with.
This process is very powerful and can help treat many childhood
problems in usually only one session.
Every child (aged 7-17) is escorted by one or both parents or guardian
(normally the person who the child ‘gets on with’ the
most) and the session is a very positive experience for everyone
involved.
